How to Become a Ninja in Japan

18. September @ 19:00, 20:00

Anna Sanner, author, interpreter and translator of Japanese and English, will be reading from her memoir How to Become a Ninja in Japan and taking the audience on a humorous, honest journey through the Land of the Rising Sun, the world of shadow warriors and the labyrinth of the heart. Books will be available for purchase, and there will be a book-signing session.

Anna loves Japan. But does Japan love her back? Having spent years studying its language and culture, she now wants to fathom its heart and moves to Osaka.
Yet, as a straightforward German, it’s not at all easy to find the winding path behind its smiling mask. Her job as a teacher frustrates her, but her aikido training gives her a sense of stability.
Whilst visiting a museum village in Iga, an unexpected opportunity arises for her to undertake ninja training. At last, she feels she has come closer to the heart of Japan.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she throws herself into the adventure.
Soon, however, she realises that the path becomes more convoluted with every step.
Will it remain out of reach, despite all her determination?
A humorous and honest journey through the Land of the Rising Sun, the world of the Shadow Warriors and the labyrinth of the heart.
